Putting Manchester at centre stage…

THE Company is a new national company for youth music theatre.

That’s a good thing in itself but what makes this company especially exciting and interesting is not only that it’s a national company based in Manchester but also that it’s substantially made up of last year’s team from The National Youth Music Theatre, who have decided that the London bias in this sort of thing has gone on for far too long and, what’s more, actually set out to do something about it.

“This is a labour of love,” enthuses administrator Liz Whitehead, of The British & International Federation of Festivals.

“This is a company of professionals who work all over the world but are doing this for free for all sorts of reasons and working outside our day jobs to do it.”

Potential members of The Company aged 13-23 can register to audition for next year as cast, musicians or trainee technicians by visiting website. Teachers and technical staff from major theatres can also register.
