A unique opportunity to hear language, share experience and create practice focusing on Shakespeare as an international writer.
10:30 – Oi Prospero!
An intimate encounter with the celebrated Nós do Morro Theatre Company from Rio de Janeiro. In his only London workshop, the Company’s Artistic Director Guti Fraga leads an interactive workshop on The Tempest, exploring their unique practice which blends music, movement and language to redefine Shakespeare in a Brazilian context. He is joined by members of Nós do Morro Theatre Company.
12:00 – Global Shakespeare
A creative conversation investigating inter-cultural collaboration and the role of Shakespeare as an international writer that crosses borders and builds bridges. Chaired by Alda Terraciano, leading practitioners, including Paul Heritage, Louise Jeffreys and Cicely Berry, share their global experiences and exchange views and questions with other cultural travellers.
1:45 – Knock Against My Heart
Set to the music and soul of Rio’s favelas, Theatre Centre presents a thrilling new play by Oladipo Agboluaje inspired by The Tempest, developed in a unique collaboration with Brazil’s acclaimed theatre company Nós do Morro.
3:15 – Speak Your Heart
An exclusive space to share thoughts and ideas with the creative minds behind Oladipo Agboluaje’s new play for Theatre Centre, Knock Against My Heart. Talk to the writer, director and dramaturg of the play and express your immediate response to the production.
