“Critical Mass changed my life”. BOLA AGBAJE (Gone Too Far!)
The Drum, Birmingham and the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry are joining forces with the Royal Court Theatre, London to seek out the most original work from Black and Minority Ethnic voices for the stage, in a new 10 weeks ‘Introduction to Playwriting’ course.
This exciting and innovative project launches on Monday 6 October at 6.30pm at The Drum, with a panel discussion chaired by Ola Animashawun (Royal Court) featuring writers Roy Williams (Fallout) and Bola Agbaje (Gone Too Far!), Justine Themen (Associate Director Community & Education, Belgrade Theatre) and Oluwatoyin Odunsi (Arts Development Manager, The Drum).
We are now recruiting potential new writers to take part in two, ‘Introduction to Playwriting’ 10 week courses this autumn – one for adults writers aged 18+ plus and over in Birmingham and one for young writers aged 16-25 in Coventry. The course will run Tue 18 Nov- Tue 10 Feb, 6.30pm-9.00pm, tickets per course session are £2 (£1). No previous experience is necessary but you must have a keen interest in writing for theatre.
